Red Ink
The Girl & The Raven is about innovating traditional marketing and embracing a cutting-edge approach, combined with an augmented reality experience
Our challenge
In collaboration with Red Ink we created an alternative to traditional marketing materials for the tourist industry.
Red Ink wanted a way of expanding and improving upon their offline medium without going completely digital.
We created an augmented reality experience that does exactly that! By combining digital technology and old-school print, we made an exciting and engaging experience that lifts the one-dimensional content off the page.
The Girl & The Raven, which is aimed at children, is an animated story about a journey through different local attractions and sights. We wanted to encourage children to explore the story and follow along in the character's digital footprint, as they move around and interact with the real world thanks to augmented reality.
Changing how people explore and interact with local tourist attractions through modern technology.
Our approach
We collaborated closely with the Red Ink team to design and animate the universe and the characters for The Girl & The Raven. The story and the presentation was specifically aimed toward creating an interaction between the children and the material.
The visual expression received a lot of attention. We wanted to capture the imagination of the kids and encourage interaction and exploration.
The final design was chosen because of its user-friendly and cartoon-like look, which enables the augmented reality universe in providing a fun experience combined with learning and conveying information.
Our conclusion
These are just the first steps toward something bigger. The concept of mixing augmented reality and analogue media in a marketing context can be expanded and adapted for many different purposes.
The creative process of developing a cross media experience turned out to be a very giving project for our own understanding of the possibilities within this field. We can definitely see ourselves creating similar projects in the future.
